Mobile Seasonal Tyre Service
Seasonal Tyre Refitting
Seasonal tyre refitting changes your vehicle between suitable summer and winter tyre sets. Dial A Tyre 247 can arrange mobile attendance at home, work or another suitable location, subject to confirmed availability, vehicle and tyre suitability, and a safe, lawful working position.

What Is Seasonal Tyre Refitting?
A seasonal tyre changeover is planned work using an appropriate set you already own. It is not automatically a purchase of new tyres. Changing complete wheel-and-tyre assemblies differs from removing loose tyres from rims and fitting another set. Explain what you have before booking: equipment, time, balancing and suitability requirements can differ. Some drivers use all-season tyres instead; the appropriate choice depends on their vehicle, use and manufacturer guidance.
Details to Have Ready
Loose Tyres or Complete Seasonal Wheel Sets?
Complete Wheel-and-Tyre Sets
The seasonal tyre is already mounted on its own wheel. The proposed job is to change complete assemblies, subject to wheel compatibility, tyre condition and a suitable working position. Supply details of both sets rather than assuming that wheels which physically fit are suitable for your vehicle.
Loose Seasonal Tyres
The tyres need to be removed from and fitted onto rims. Different equipment and balancing or other considerations may be required. Call to confirm this arrangement before booking; neither format is automatically accepted for every vehicle or location.
Mention TPMS configuration or warning lights, wheel damage and locking-wheel-nut access. Wheel balancing, TPMS programming, new valves, disposal, wheel repair and alignment are not automatically included. Discuss any additional requirement before accepting the quote.
Winter Tyre Refitting
Winter tyres are designed for prolonged colder-weather use and may suit regular journeys in cold, icy or snowy conditions. The set must match the vehicle specification, form a compatible and safe configuration, and have sufficient tread without relevant damage or defects. Consider your journeys and manufacturer guidance rather than the calendar alone. Winter tyres are not a general UK legal requirement.
Summer Tyre Refitting
As sustained colder conditions pass, you may choose a summer tyre change using your suitable existing set. Confirm wheel and tyre specifications, look for cuts, bulges, cracking or abnormal wear, and discuss anything concerning before fitting. Pressures must follow the vehicle manufacturer’s specification; a set being stored between seasons does not establish that it remains serviceable.
When Should You Change?
There is no universal date for every UK driver. Sustained weather, regular routes, travel to colder regions or other countries, manufacturer guidance and the condition and remaining tread of both sets all matter. Spring or autumn can be useful planning points, not compulsory booking periods. Check that you have suitable tyres available before arranging a seasonal tyre change.

Checks Before Seasonal Refitting
Before arranging a winter tyre change or returning to a summer set, consider the following. Only inspect tyres where it is safe; tell us if a marking or part of the tyre cannot be checked safely.
- Correct size, specification and vehicle compatibility
- Tread depth and uneven wear
- Cuts, bulges, cracking or visible deterioration
- Wheel damage and locking-wheel-nut access
- Correct direction or position where applicable
- Pressure specified for the vehicle and load
For cars, light vans and light trailers, the legal minimum tread is 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters and around the entire circumference. Tyres must also be correctly inflated to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification and free from relevant defects. See GOV.UK vehicle safety checks and Highway Code tyre guidance. A seasonal appointment is not an MOT or a guarantee of future tyre performance.
Seasonal Refitting or Replacement?
Refitting reuses a suitable set you already own. When tyres are worn, damaged, unsuitable or unavailable, Mobile Tyre Replacement is the separate service to discuss. If you are stranded instead of planning a changeover, use roadside tyre assistance or the emergency service rather than booking routine seasonal work.
Mobile Attendance for Planned Changeovers
Homes, driveways, workplaces and suitable private parking may be appropriate, with permission where needed. Tell us about access and working space before booking. Seasonal refitting is not promoted for motorway hard shoulders, live traffic lanes, unsafe roadside positions, restricted land without permission or airport airside areas. Do not drive an unsafe vehicle simply to reach an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is seasonal tyre refitting?
It is a changeover between suitable summer and winter tyres or seasonal wheel sets you already own. We confirm the arrangement, condition and vehicle compatibility before agreeing the work.
Can you change winter tyres back to summer tyres?
Yes, subject to the summer set being suitable and serviceable. Tell us the tyre sizes and whether you have loose tyres or complete wheels; availability and the appropriate job are confirmed before booking.
Can you fit seasonal tyres at my home or workplace?
Attendance may be arranged at a home, workplace or other permitted parking location where there is a safe and lawful working position. Describe the available space when enquiring.
Do my seasonal tyres need to be mounted on wheels already?
Tell us which arrangement you have. Complete wheel sets and loose tyres require different work; we must confirm whether the equipment, vehicle specification and location are suitable before accepting the booking.
Does seasonal tyre refitting include wheel balancing?
Balancing is not automatically included. Whether it is needed depends on the tyres, wheels and fitting arrangement. Any separate work and its price must be agreed before it is undertaken.
What information do you need before I book?
Provide your registration, vehicle type, current tyre size, location, number of tyres or wheels, whether the seasonal tyres are mounted, and whether a locking-wheel-nut key is available. Mention any damage or warning lights.
Can you store my other tyre set?
Tyre storage is not currently advertised or included in this service. Make your own arrangements for the removed set and tell us where both sets will be available for the appointment.
What happens if one of my seasonal tyres is damaged?
A tyre will not be fitted simply because it belongs to your seasonal set. Its condition and suitability must be assessed; we explain any concern and discuss replacement or other agreed work rather than promise reuse.
